These charges will apply to anyone:
(i) Changing the name of a property
(ii) Adding a name to a numbered property
(iii) Naming or numbering a new property or street
All of the above actions need to be registered with the Council who will liaise with Royal Mail and parish/town councils, where necessary, and inform the emergency services and Ordnance Survey.
Please note that newly built properties will often need to be assigned a postal address before the utility companies will provide a connection.
It would normally be expected for the developer to be responsible for registering new properties.
The Council’s Building Surveying division carries out the street naming and numbering function and any queries should be addressed to that office. Building Surveying can be contacted by the following ways:
