Application and Decision Search

On this page you can find out how to view, comment on and object to a current planning application. You can also find a decision and look up details of individual applications back to 1989 using this search.

Search planning applications and decisions by clicking on the button above to go to our application and decision finder function. If the application reference number is known enter this into the reference box and click on "search" (there is no need to enter any other information).

If the application reference number is not known the other search fields can be used to find this. For example by selecting a parish a list of all applications for that parish will be shown back to 1989, the latest applications being at the top of the list.

Submitting Comments

When viewing full details of an individual application there is a facility to enable comments to be submitted directly by clicking 'comment on this application' at the top of the chosen application page. Documents will appear on the site within 5 working days of the receipt of the valid planning application.

Comments can also be sent in writing to the Council Offices London Road Saffron Walden Essex CB11 4ER or emailed to planning@uttlesford.gov.uk.

Please Note: All comments made on planning applications must be made available for public inspection (which can include by electronic means) if they are to be taken into account prior to a decision being made on an application. The Planning Inspectorate have introduced an online appeals service. Should an application go to appeal the Inspectorate may publish your comments on the Internet (via the appeals section of the Planning Portal). Your comments may include personal details such as your name, address, email or phone number. Please ensure that you only provide information, including personal information belonging to you that you are happy will be made available to other in this way. If you supply information belonging to a third party please ensure you have there permission to do so.

Comments marked as confidential or sent in anonymously will not be forwarded to the officer for consideration and will be deleted.

Decisions

You can find out if a decision has been made on a planning application by using the application search facility. Any decision will be shown in the Status box. Supporting documents, such as Decision Notices are viewable from the Documents tab. It is also possible to search for decisions by using the Advanced Search option. Enter the appropriate Reference Numbers or Application Details and select the decision option from the drop down menu in the Status box. You can then search for all decisions for a single application or those in a given area.

Help with Viewing Planning Documents

Browser Security, Internet security software and pop-up blockers may prevent you from viewing certain documents, text and plans on this website.Our Planning Application search has been configured to work best with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and upwards.

Below are instructions on how to change your security settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer to allow documents, text and plans to be viewed on this site using.

Adding this website to your Trusted Sites List: One reason why certain sections of the interactive maps area may not be working is because the website is unrecognised and therefore seen as threatening.

The way to stop this is by adding the website to your Trusted Sites List therefore allowing pop-ups, documents and plans to be viewed in your browser.

Allowing Pop Ups: To view some planning application documents you will need to allow pop-ups on your browser window. To do this left-click the tools option at the top of your Internet explorer window, select "Pop-up Blocker" from the drop down menu and then select "Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site"

Copyright

Plans, drawings and material submitted to the council are protected by the copyright acts (section 47, 1988). You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without prior permission of the copyright owner.

Part II Planning Register

Decisions on applications made prior to 1989 can also be found on the Planning Application search. Plans and associated documents relating to any application prior made to 1989 are available  to view on microfilm at the Council Offices in Saffron Walden.
