The use of A-Boards
We work with local business groups including the Town Teams in Saffron Walden and Great Dunmow to help raise awareness of the proper use of A-Boards in the district.
The council, together with the help of the town teams, wants to encourage local businesses to work within the existing Essex County Council policy on the placement of A-Boards.
Published in February 2013, the A-Boards policy (PDF) [2MB] provides guidelines for the placement on A-Boards and advertising material on publicly maintained highways, pavements and grassed areas. The policy also states that the responsibility for any injury caused to a third party by a business A Board or other advertising material lies with that business and not Essex County Council or Uttlesford District Council.
Through direct communication with businesses and engaging the Town Team members, we also want to make businesses aware that should they wish to display an A-Board they are strongly advised to have sufficient Public Liability Insurance for this purpose.
