By road

From Cambridge (estimated time 30-40 minutes):

Follow the M11 south to Junction 10 at Duxford. Take the first exit at the roundabout at the top of the slip road, onto the A505 eastwards. Follow the A505 until you get to the first roundabout, where you should take the third exit, heading south on the A1301.

Continue straight on at each of the four roundabouts you come to, eventually coming on to the B184. Follow the signposts for Saffron Walden.

You will drive down a hill into the town; go straight on at the traffic lights you come to, heading up the High Street. Go straight on at the mini-roundabout you reach. Turn right into the Council Offices, approximately 100 metres beyond the mini-roundabout.

From London (estimated time 60-90 minutes):

Join the M11 and head north to Junction 8, Stansted Airport. Take the second exit from the roundabout at the top of the slip road, onto the A120 westwards. Follow the A120 over the first roundabout, then take the third exit onto the B1383 northwards at the second, heading towards Stansted Mountfitchet.

Follow the B1383 northwards through Stansted Mountfitchet, Quendon and Newport. A short distance after leaving Newport you will reach a roundabout; turn right onto the B1052 eastwards and following the signposts for Saffron Walden.

Follow the B1052 until you reach a mini-roundabout at the road's end. Turn right. Head straight over the adjacent mini-roundabout and the Council Offices are immediately on your left.

By rail

Saffron Walden's railway station, Audley End, is located on the Cambridge to London Liverpool Street line. There are regular services in each direction from early in the morning to late at night.

Not all trains between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street and vice versa stop at Audley End, so ensure that the train you are getting does before boarding.

The Council Offices are a half-hour walk from Audley End Station, but you may be safer getting a bus or taxi. Buses run roughly hourly throughout the day. If there is no taxi waiting at the station, you will be able to find the number of a local company once you arrive.
