Uttlesford District Council Planning Policy Team

The Local Plan is a key corporate priority for Uttlesford, shaping the growth of the District over the next 15 years and beyond. Part of the growth strategy is to consider the development of new Garden Communities as well as the sustainable development of some of our existing towns and villages.

There are currently three vacancies within the Planning Policy Team:

Planning Policy Manager

Salary £50,500 - £53,530 per annum with starting salary at £50,500

Why not join us at this pivotal and exciting time? The Planning Policy Manager post reports to the Assistant Director and has overall responsibility for the wider planning policy service, including the Local Plan, Planning Policy, Economic Development, Conservation and landscaping, Neighbourhood Planning and Airport Policy.

Planning Policy Team Leader

Salary £41,025 - £43,821 per annum with starting salary at £41,025

Your job will be to lead and manage the delivery of the Local Plan, seeking to deliver sustainable development for our communities while preserving what makes Uttlesford special.

We require someone with a sound knowledge and relevant experience of Planning Policy. You will be required to manage competing demands of a busy section while taking control of specific projects.

Planning Policy Officer

Salary £20,661 - £36,379 per annum (Career Grade)
(starting salary dependent upon relevant experience)

We require a Planner with a sound knowledge of current planning legislation and experience of working in planning policy. You will be required to undertake research and write reports, making clear and reasoned recommendations with a minimum of supervision.

Street Cleansing Operative

Salary £18,070 - £20,138 for a 37 hour week

We are seeking a flexible cleansing operative to join our street cleansing team to undertake litter picking, litter and dog waste bin emptying and waste clearance throughout the district. You will need a valid UK driving licence .

If you are keen to deliver quality, value for money services to our community and work with the team to deliver the services in an effective, safe manner and support the wider operations of the Council we would like to hear from you .

Housing Management Team Leader

Salary £30,153 - £32,486 per annum

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced team leader to lead and co-ordinate the day to day operational business of the Housing Management Team and its associated workload. The position is based at the council offices in Saffron Walden and will lead a small team of housing officers that between them cover the whole of the picturesque district of Uttlesford.

The essential requirements for this post are a good knowledge of tenancy rights within the social housing sector and all relevant legislation. The successful applicant will have exceptional customer care skills a relevant housing qualification as well as a general qualification in team leadership/management or have completed team leader/supervision training.

Procurement Officer

Salary £26,822 to £29,323 per annum

We are looking for a Procurement Officer to assist in the delivery of the Council's procurement strategy and work programme.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will be involved with all aspects of procurement from low value purchase orders and contracts for maintenance works to assisting with sealed bid tenders for major contracts. We are looking for someone with an enquiring mind and strong communication skills. Working with all departments across the Council you may be dealing with a contract for window cleaning one moment and a contract for IT the next. You will need to be extremely proactive, flexible in your approach, meticulous with attention to detail and be able to grasp new tasks quickly.
