Air Quality
Uttlesford has two permanent air quality monitoring stations:
Saffron Walden (Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Particulate Matter)
This air quality monitoring station is positioned at a roadside site in Saffron Walden where the results are representative of the worst levels of road vehicle pollution and are influenced by local traffic congestion and the overall volume and type of vehicles using the road.
Takeley (Ozone, Nitrogen Oxides, Particulate Matter)
This air quality monitoring station is positioned at an urban background site where the results are representative of the levels that most of us experience around our homes, gardens and immediate neighbourhood but not at the kerbside of busy roads or in remote rural locations.
There is also a mobile air quality monitoring station in the district, which is currently located at Burton Hill near Stansted to record data there.
