Environmental Enforcement Policy

The council aims to safeguard and improve the health, safety and environment of our community by delivering a wide range of enforcement services in a fair and consistent manner.

We have adopted the Government's enforcement concordat and will ensure our decisions on enforcement action are taken in accordance with the concordat, the Guide to Crown Prosecutors and other relevant Home Office advice.

The council understands the needs of citizens and businesses and we will work closely with both groups to help them comply with the law. We will, when necessary, take firm action against those who commit serious offences, or those who consistently flout the law.
