Visitor Information
We welcome over 20,000 visitors each year including families, groups, researchers and over 5000 schoolchildren and teachers.
Saffron Walden Museum is open 363 days a year.
Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

March to October Mondays to Saturdays - 10am to 5pm
Sundays and Bank Holidays - 2 to 5pm
November to February Mondays to Saturdays - 10am to 4.30pm
Sundays and Bank holidays - 2 to 4.30pm

Almost all exhibition areas are accessible to wheelchair users. Visitor facilities include dedicated parking, ramps, a lift, stair-lifts and sound loops at the entrance desk and in the lecture and teaching spaces. There is a unisex adapted WC, which also has baby-changing facilities. The Museum has received several awards for it provision for disabled visitors. Parking
There is a small car park for visitors. The narrow streets are not suitable for coaches, but you can drop off in Castle Street and walk across the road into Museum Street.

Shop

There is a small sales desk with books, replicas and souvenirs, mainly at pocket money prices. We also sell autumn-flowering saffron crocus during August each year at £3 for 10 plus 50p for postage and packing. If you would like to order crocus corms please send a cheque payable to Uttlesford District Council with your name and address. |
