From local archaeology to cultures of distant lands, from fossils to today's wildlife, from Tudor beds to fine ceramics to Ancient Egypt …. Saffron Walden Museum owes the scope and depth of its collections to its long history and many generous benefactors.
The Museum has over 170,000 objects and specimens, only a small proportion of which can be displayed at any one time. Special exhibitions allow some reserve collections to be displayed, while other collections are mainly for research or reference.
In this section you can view a brief guide to the displays by gallery, find out more about all the collections or search the collections database. You can also find out more about the Museum's conservation, research and enquiries services.
