Museum Heritage Quest Centre
Welcome to the Saffron Walden Museum Heritage Quest Centre pages.
Please help us to raise our target of £1 million to improve access to our extensive reserve collections, and bring the Museum Service out to a location near you! We plan to apply to the Heritage Lottery Fund for at least half this sum, but first we need to raise £500,000 matching funding.

Carenza Lewis, of Cambridge University and TV's Time Team, helped Saffron Walden Museum to launch its exciting £1 million project. She presented a prize of a 'coin hoard' to Gloria Hills, winner of a competition sponsored by the Reporter Group of newspapers, to name the Museum's proposed new building for housing and researching collections. Mrs Hills' entry 'Quest' was chosen because it summed up the excitement of searching out knowledge and special objects.
Carenza Lewis described the Museum as "brilliant" and said "I would like to wish the campaign every success. It is an idea whose time has come and an idea which is great for East Anglia"
Project Patrons: Lord Braybrooke, Sir John Ruggles-Brise, Sir Alan Haselhurst MP, Carenza Lewis, Lord Petre, Andrew Streeter.

Carolyn Wingfield and Alastair Bovaird (or the other way around!!!) sign the Museums bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for the new HQ Centre, submitted on 12th September. The outcome of the bid will be known in March 2008 and fund raising continues.
