The Planning system plays an important role in modern society by helping to protect the environment in our towns and cities and in the countryside.
Nearly all development and changes of use of buildings and land require planning permission from the Council. This process is called Development Control. Development Control operates the mechanism by which Local Planning Authorities administer the regulations which Government has put in place.
