What's happening...
Uttlesford District Council is awaiting the outcome of the public inquiry into its refusal to allow expansion at Stansted Airport under the G1 proposal. If allowed, this would allow BAA greater use of the existing runway. The outcome of the G1 appeal is not expected before the end of April.

The 38 planning applications relating to the second runway (G2) proposal have now been called-in by the Government.

It means a public inquiry will be held next year and a decision will then be taken by the Secretaries of State for Communities and Transport.

Meanwhile, Uttlesford District Council is still awaiting the outcome of the public inquiry into its refusal to allow expansion at Stansted Airport under the G1 proposal. If allowed, this would allow BAA greater use of the existing runway. This announcement has now been further delayed because of new consultation around night noise issues, and an announcement is not expected until September.

You can find links to the G2 applications, along with the documents relating to G1, through this site. We have extended the deadline for the G2 consultation so you have until September 26 to send in your views.
