PLACE scheme ( Private Lease Agreements Converting Empties)

As part of Uttlesford District Council's commitment to returning empty properties to use, the council has secured funding to provide owners of empty homes with grants of up to £50,000 to carry out repairs in exchange for a lease agreement.  Under this scheme, known as PLACE, the renovated property would be leased by our partner Housing Association to let and manage as an affordable home for a period of three years, before being returned to the owner in sound condition. With a smaller grant of less than £25,000 the owner would receive a rental income. The Council also offers interest-free loans for the renovation of empty properties to be sold or let up to the value of £25,000.
