Key Worker Survey

In 2004 Uttlesford District Council commissioned DCA to undertake a key worker housing needs study across the district, involving both an employers and an employees survey.

The main objectives of the study were to:

  • Ascertain who represents a Key Worker in Uttlesford;
  • Establish what their housing needs are and identify the types of housing required to address the housing needs of Key Workers;
  • Ascertain the level of need for intermediate market housing for local people who may not be considered to be a 'Key Worker' but who are financially restricted from entering the local housing market;
  • Identify local affordability trends of the housing market particularly in the four main settlements of Great Dunmow, Saffron Walden, Stansted and Thaxted.
