Equality - the Council as an Employer

The council is committed to equality of opportunity in our approach to service delivery, employment and being a community leader. We are committed to identifying, understanding and eliminating all barriers that prevent access to services, information and employment.

Employment - Equal Opportunities

Uttlesford District Council aims to attract and employ a diverse workforce. No job applicant, employee, volunteer, agency worker, contractor or Member will be discriminated against unlawfully.

Uttlesford District Council seeks to remove barriers people can experience in employment - we understand that creating equality of opportunity is about individuals and is not the same as treating everyone identically. For example, we make adjustments for disabled job applicants and employees wherever reasonable to do so.

Future Assessments

We are committed to ensuring that our equality information is as up to date as possible and will be reviewing it on a regular basis to include new data available from sources such as the Census 2011. The Equality Information and the Equality Duty has been updated on 31 January 2013.


The Council is actively working towards the Achieving level of the Equality Framework for Local Government and is committed to formerly attaining this level during 2013/14.
