Trade Union Facility Time

The Local Government Transparency Code 2014 requires councils to publish information on trade union facility time.

Uttlesford District Council recognises the importance of working with Trade Unions to promote good industrial relations and to comply with the principles set out in the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 and the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act, 1993.

  • Total number (absolute number and full time equivalent) of staff who are union representatives.
    Uttlesford District Council does not employ any full time equivalent staff, however, over the course of a year 20% of one full time equivalent (FTE) staff is provided for union activities.
  • Total number (absolute number and full time equivalent) of union representatives who devote at least 50 per cent of their time to union duties.
    There are no union representatives who devote at least 50 per cent of their time to union duties.
  • Names of all trade unions represented in the local authority.
    UNISON is the only trade union represented at Uttlesford District Council.
  • A basic estimate of spending on unions as a percentage of the total pay bill.
    Salary data for Uttlesford District Council is provided in the pdf icon Pay Policy 2017-18 [377kb]. At the time of issue of the 2015-16 policy, the approximate average salary for all 'Green Book' salaried employees is  £24,268. Over the course of a year 20% of one full time equivalent (FTE) staff is provided for union activities, this amounting to £4,853.60 (20% of  £24,268).
