Prevent counter-terrorism strategy

The Prevent counter-terrorism strategy is part of the national counter-terrorism initiative.

It aims to stop people being drawn into or supporting terrorism. The Prevent strategy focuses on three key areas:

  • Responding to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threat from those who promote it
  • Preventing people from being drawn into terrorism and make sure that they're given appropriate advice and support
  • Working with sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation that we need to address.

Prevent in Uttlesford

By adopting a multi-agency approach to protecting and supporting people at risk from radicalisation Uttlesford District Council aims to safeguard children and adults from being drawn into terrorist-related activity and promote community relations.

You can contact the Uttlesford Community Safety Team for more information on the strategy or if you are concerned that someone you know is at risk of becoming radicalised and/or involved in terrorism.
