Dementia Friends awareness sessions

A series of Dementia Friends awareness sessions will be held at venues across Uttlesford as part of a national awareness campaign.

They will be held in the five day centres and are open to all who have an interest in learning more about the disease. A guest speaker from the Saffron Walden Dementia Action Alliance will provide information for those who want to learn more about dementia and how they can help to create dementia friendly communities.

The venues and dates are:

· Monday 15 May -Rowena Davey Centre, Dunmow (01371 872874)

· Tuesday 16 May -Takeley Community Centre (01279 871198)

· Wednesday 17 May -Cutler's Kitchen, Thaxted (01371 830094)

· Thursday 18 May -The Crafton Room, Stansted (01279 815091)

· Friday 19 May -The Garden Room, Saffron Walden (01799 522772)

All sessions are free to attend. They all start at 11am and will last about an hour. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided. Attendees are welcome to stay for lunch afterwards; however they will need to book this in advance with the relevant day centre.

The sessions are taking place during national Dementia Awareness Week (14-20 May) which is organised by the Alzheimer's Society and has the aim of uniting people against dementia. For further information, visit www.alzheimers.org.uk or the Dementia Friends website www.dementiafriends.org.uk.
