Did you know that an estimated 1,000 people aged over 65 are living with dementia in Uttlesford - and that this figure is expected to almost double by 2030?

The impact that dementia can have on individuals and their families is profound.

Uttlesford District Council, working alongside Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, would like to create an Uttlesford Dementia Action Alliance. This would support the work of the Saffron Walden Dementia Action Alliance, which formed in 2013 and has the goal of ensuring Saffron Walden is a community where people living with dementia are treated with respect and dignity whilst their carers are supported and enabled to enjoy a good quality of life.

The future Uttlesford Dementia Action Alliance would look to expand this across the district by involving and working with many organisations, in Stansted, Dunmow and elsewhere, to create an increased awareness of dementia and to help and improve the lives of people who are affected by the disease.

A meeting will take place on Tuesday 22 August, from 2-4pm at the Council Offices in London Road, Saffron Walden for those who are interested in helping to set up the alliance.

To register your attendance at the meeting or for further information, please contact Lucy Fish, Health Improvement Officer, at lfish@uttlesford.gov.uk or 01799 510585.
