Council spending - have your say!

Each year Uttlesford District Council has to prepare its budget and decide how much should be spent on the wide range of services it provides to the community.

The Council has now launched its annual consultation and wants to know what residents and businesses think its priorities should be for next year, and what it should spend their council tax on.

The results of the consultation will help to shape the budget for April 2018 to March 2019.

Cllr Simon Howell, Cabinet Member for Finance & Administration, said: "The process of setting the budget takes many months and we need to start thinking now about what the priorities are for the next financial year.

"I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the short survey so that the Council can continue to focus on the issues that matter to them."

The survey has been sent out in the latest edition of Uttlesford Life, the Council's magazine for residents, and to the Uttlesford Citizens Panel.

The same questions will be asked in a telephone survey of 500 randomly-selected households across the district. A company called NWA will be conducting the telephone budget survey on the council's behalf until 25 September.

The consultation is also open online at www.uttlesford.gov.uk/budgetconsultation.

For people who do not have access to the internet, paper copies of the survey are available from the Council Offices in Saffron Walden, the customer service desk at Dunmow Library, and the Thaxted Community Information Centre, or residents can request a copy by calling 01799 510510 or emailing consultation@uttlesford.gov.uk

Completed online and paper forms will be accepted up to and including Monday 25 September 2017.
