Chairman's Civic Dinner raises money for good causes

The Chairman of Uttlesford District Council, Cllr Geoffrey Sell, has raised over £3,000 for his chosen charities at the 2018 Civic Dinner.

Chairman's Civic Dinner

More than 80 guests attended the black-tie event at Great Chesterford Research Park where they enjoyed a three-course meal, and entertainment provided by local singer-songwriter Joanna Eden. A raffle with prizes donated by local people and companies was held on the evening, and this added £500 to the total amount raised.

Some of those present were the Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jennifer Tolhurst, the High Sheriff of Essex Simon Hall MBE, the Chairman of Essex County Council Cllr John Aldridge, as well as the Mayor of Great Dunmow Cllr Danielle Frost, and the Mayor of Saffron Walden Cllr Richard Freeman.

Amongst the other guests were representatives from the Essex Wildlife Trust and Support 4 Sight - the Chairman's two charities for 2017/18.

Cllr Sell said: "It was a fantastic evening and I would like to thank everyone who attended or who was involved in the event, as well as to those who kindly gave prizes for the raffle. I'm pleased we could raise some funds as well as the profile of the two charities which do great work in the community."
