First round of 'Drinks with Community Links' for Uttlesford

An initiative that allows residents to join community officers for an informal chat over a cup of coffee has launched in Uttlesford.

Drinks With Community Links

Organised by the Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership (CSP), the purpose of Drinks with Community Links is to give local people an opportunity to raise any concerns, issues or ideas they have for policing and safety in their community.

The first session in the programme was held in Costa Coffee at Tesco, Great Dunmow, last Wednesday (14 March), and further sessions will be popping-up at other venues across the district where there is a high footfall. These will be attended by different CSP members so that there is always a varied mix of expertise each time.

Cllr Vic Ranger, Uttlesford District Council's Cabinet Member for Communities and Partnerships, said: "Drinks with Community Links is another way in which the CSP is seeking to build stronger relationships and to raise its profile with local residents - one cup of coffee at a time.

"These sessions are held in a warm, welcoming environment at an accessible venue, which we hope will make people feel more comfortable about coming to talk to us about their concerns and to raise any questions they may have."

Future Drinks with Community Links sessions will be advertised locally and via the new Twitter account @UDCCommunities.
