HomeOption is Uttlesford Council's choice based lettings scheme. All social housing vacancies are advertised on the HomeOption website and in a fortnightly property list. Applicants on the council's housing register now have a chance to express an interest in a property suitable for their needs when it is advertised.
Each Friday applicants on the Housing Register can express an interest in up to three properties which are advertised in the HomeOption property list. Properties are offered to the applicant in the highest band, who has been waiting the longest time and who is eligible.
Once you have an application registered on the council's housing register you can start putting in "expressions of interest" on properties that are of a suitable size for your household.
You can express interest in several different ways. Expressions of interest can be made by telephone, text or online - for full instructions of how to use each of these methods please go to the HomeOption website and click on the Scheme User Guide box on the right hand side.
Once your application has been registered you will be sent a letter with your registration details, please keep this safe as you will need it for future reference.
All the information needed to express interest is in the guide but if you have any queries regarding HomeOption or think you will have difficulty in accessing the scheme on-line then please call Housing Services on 01799 510510.
