Stray dogs

How to report a stray, found or lost dog.

Our collection service operates within our normal office hours.

To report a stray or lost dog, please contact us on:

Tel: 01799 510510

Email: uconnect@uttlesford.gov.uk

The police no longer have responsibility for taking in strays, and new arrangements have been put into place.

Out of hours service

We do not provide an out of hours stray dog service. Please keep the dog and contact us on 01799 510510 the next working day.

Please do not release the dog to run again, as this could result in injury to the dog or other members of the public.

Stray dog fees

You'll have to pay any administrative costs and a statutory fee for stray dogs.

Local orders

We have orders in the Uttlesford District to enforce responsible dog ownership.

Report a sick or injured dog

You should report an injured or distressed animal to the RSPCA.

Reports can be made via the RSPCA website or by calling 0300 1234 999.

The RSPCA cruelty checklist on their website helps identify the information they may ask for when you contact them.
