Means of control - planning enforcement

We have an extensive and flexible range of discretionary powers to deal with breaches of control when necessary and appropriate to remove serious harm to public amenity.

Enforcement relates to any development which does not have the appropriate permission.

Our Advice and Guidance section provides more information on what requires permission. There are wide powers to control the display of advertisements, including hoardings and illuminations and to ensure the strictest adherence to design control on listed buildings.
