Bogus Lifeline equipment scam

Residents are warned to be on their guard if they are contacted by someone offering to check their Lifeline equipment.

We have had reports of elderly residents being contacted by individuals claiming to be a representative of the council checking Lifeline equipment.

Lifeline is a personal alarm service available to older or more vulnerable people who want to stay in their own homes.

What to do

Due to the current Coronavirus situation we will only be visiting Lifeline users who have told us there is a problem with their equipment. This will be by appointment and the visiting officer will show their council identification badge.

If you have any concerns about Lifeline or anyone calling on behalf of the council you should contact us on 01799 510510 or email uconnect@uttlesford.gov.uk.
