The public inspection period for 2020/21 has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The period for the exercise of public rights under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 is normally required to include the first 10 working days of June; this requirement has been suspended for the accounting periods ending 31 March 2020 and 2021 resulting in a public inspection commencing no later than 1 August 2021.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that from 26 July - 20 August 2021 inclusive, any person may inspect the accounting records of the Council for the financial year to 31 March 2021, and certain related documents (comprising books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts) at the address given below. They may also make copies of the accounts and documents.

Application should be made initially to Ms Angela Knight, Assistant Director of Resources.

NOTICE is also given that on or after 31 August 2021 until the completion of the audit, the Auditor, at the request of members of the public and local government electors for any area to which the accounts relate, will give the elector or his representative an opportunity to question them about the accounts and make objections as to any matter in respect of which the Auditor could take action under Section 17 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 (namely, an unlawful item of account), or could make a report in the public interest under Section 8 of that Act. Subject to any questions raised on the accounts, these will then be published by 30 November 2021.

No objection may be made unless the External Auditor has previously received written notice at the address below of the proposed objection and its grounds. The council's accounts are subject to external audit by Aphrodite Lefevre, Director of BDO LLP.
