Town wide pollution awareness
Creating town wide sustainable travel plans with local schools and businesses to help to reduce pollution.
We have commissioned a consultancy called MP Smarter Travel to engage with local schools and businesses in the town to create sustainable travel plans for them.
They have also completed some freight and transport interviews with Waitrose and Lord Butler Leisure centre.
About the project
As part of the Saffron Walden Clean Air project we have commissioned a Schools behaviour change and engagement project. This will involve:
- Creating sustainable Active Travel travel plans
- Encouraging Active Travel to and from School
- Collecting Air Pollution data
- Events and education
- School Travel Surveys
There will be many opportunities for the children of Saffron Walden to get involved with this project and for parents to support them in walking, wheeling or scooting to school.

MP Smarter Travel have vast experience working with schools across numerous London Boroughs to encourage more active travel choices, helping students understand the impacts of pollution and mapping the healthiest routes to and from schools.
