Clinical waste disposal from private households includes the safe collection and disposal of items like hypodermic needles and dialysis waste.
The council provides a confidential free disposal service for clinical waste from private households. Clinical waste MUST NOT be placed with the rubbish. It should be stored in special yellow sacks, which will either be supplied by your local nurse or can be supplied, on request, from Environmental Services.
Any sharp instrument such as scalpels or needles must be placed in special yellow plastic containers known as sharps boxes.
Please note that items such as incontinence pads are not classified as clinical waste and should be disposed of in household waste.
