There's only a few weeks left to apply to our Community Project Grant fund.

Who can apply?

Zipwire at Great Chesterford
Zipwire project at Great Chesterford - one of the community projects funded with a grant from the council
Uttlesford District Council distributes grants to local community projects, enabling clubs, local councils or organisations to build facilities, pay for training, carry out renovations, or complete countless other projects.

The council administers three different types of grant: Community Project Grants, Leisure and Cultural Grants and Sports Project Grants.

Applications for Leisure and Cultural Grants and Sports Project Grants are considered on a monthly basis and can be no larger than £500. Please remember that you must have match-funding equal to the size of the grant you are applying for. The Community Project Grant Scheme is for larger projects such as the development of land for recreational purposes, children's play areas, car parks and refurbishment of facilities with amounts available from £100 up to a maximum of £3,500. See what you could apply for in 2018/19.

Grants from a minimum of £100 up to a maximum of £3,500 are available to properly-constituted voluntary organisations or similar bodies in the Uttlesford district, such as village hall committees, community shops, town and parish councils, community associations, play and recreation clubs and groups.

Grants will be considered for expenditure incurred in the provision of any of the following:

  • Development of land for recreational purposes, including environmental improvements
  • Buildings or facilities that are available for community use such as village halls, community centres or public conveniences
  • Car parks and access roads to car parks directly associated with a community use building
  • Children's play areas, including equipment and safety surfacing
  • Improvement, refurbishment or extension to any of the facilities outlined above
  • Essential equipment that contributes significantly to the aims and objectives of the project
  • Training or a one-off staffing cost that contributes significantly to the development of the project or increases benefit to the community (wages and salaries cannot be paid)

Eligible projects must be completed after 1 April 2018 and before 20 March 2019.

Applications from sports and cultural groups are not eligible. Sports and cultural groups could consider applying for a leisure and cultural grant.

If the scheme is oversubscribed applications from organisations in receipt of this grant in the last two years will be considered but will be given a lower priority than applications from organisations not having benefited during the last two years.

Closing date for applications for the Community Project Grant scheme is noon on Thursday 14 June 2018.
