Consultation on Regulation 18 (Draft) Local Plan

The consultation runs from Wednesday 12 July until 5:00pm on Monday 4 September.

The consultation covers:

  • The Core Strategic Policies (the overarching plan for how the district will develop)
  • Locations and numbers of new houses and employment sites
  • Development Management Policies (how planning applications should be decided

Why is it important to get involved?

The decisions the council will make following this consultation will set the context for new development over the next 15 years.


How can I find out more?

Come along to one of our exhibitions. There will be three special exhibitions at locations near to the proposed garden village sites. At each of these there will be a chance to talk to officers and to see maps and details of the proposed developments.

During the consultation period there will also be a static exhibition at the Council Offices in Saffron Walden.

Copies of the document are available at the Community Information Centres at the four libraries in the district and on the mobile libraries.


How can I make my comments?

Read the consultation document and send the council your comments. You can respond online using the online consultation portal, by email by letter, or by using one of the comments forms below. All comments must be received by 5:00pm on Monday 4 September 2017.

What happens next?

Responses to the document will inform the Pre-submission Plan (Regulation 19) which we will consult on in the winter of 2017/18. Following this consultation the Plan will be submitted to the Secretary of State to be subject to an independent examination by a Planning Inspector.
