Essex Energy Switch
Check out the community scheme which aims to help residents get a better deal on their energy bills.
The Scheme aims to help residents get a better deal on their gas and/or electricity bills and is delivered by the Council and iChoosr, an independent specialist provider in collective energy switching.
If you've never switched energy supplier or if it has been a number of years, the savings are likely to be significant. Even if you do switch regularly, it is still worth registering to ensure you are maintaining the best tariffs available.

Offers will be sent out from Monday 3 June onwards. Residents will have until Tuesday 2 July to decide to switch or not.
You can continue to register until 25 June (offline) and 2 July (online). Residents who register on-line will receive their offer automatically after Monday 3rd June.
It is FREE to register for the scheme and there is NO obligation to switch providers.
How does the scheme work?
Collective energy switching works by bringing together large groups of residents who want to switch providers and pay less for their energy. The average household saving has previously been £150, however if you haven't switched for a number of years, the savings could be even greater.
A one-day 'auction' is held the day after final registration day, with energy companies coming forward to offer their best possible tariffs.
Everyone who registers receives a personalised offer which details how much they can save by switching to the winning provider.
There is absolutely no obligation to switch. Those who do decide to accept their offer will be supported by iChoosr with the switching process. You may already be a customer of the winning energy supplier, so therefore will not technically "switch" but just be on a cheaper tariff.
You can register on the Essex Energy Switch website. It is quick and easy but please remember to make sure you have your annual statement handy.
What happens if you or someone you know doesn't have internet access?
Residents who do not have internet access at home can register by contacting Braintree and Uttlesford Energy Advice Team on 01376 552525. Alternatively you can ask a relative or friend to assist or use their e-mail address, one email address can be used to register up to 5 addresses.

What happens if I miss an auction?
