Dust off your dibber and get ready to show us your petunias - our annual garden competition is back with £250 worth of prizes to be won.

What's happening this year

Once again, we've got 4 classes for you to enter so whether you have a beautifully maintained lawn or borders, or confine your gardening to tubs and baskets or a few plant pots on the windowsill, there is something for you.

Class 1 Best garden - win a £50 voucher

Class 2 Best hanging basket, tub or pot - win a £50 voucher

Class 3 Tallest sunflower - win a £50 voucher

Class 4 Best communal garden - win a £100 voucher

The competition is open to all Uttlesford District Council tenants and leaseholders.

How to enter

Decide which class you want to enter and get gardening.

You will need to complete a garden competition entry form (PDF) [1MB] .

Send your form to us by Friday 28 June 2024.

You can email your entries to

If you are entering by email please include your address, contact number and the categories you are entering.

Our judges will visit all the entries. You will be contacted by the Tenant Liaison Officer, Nicole Shephard Lewis, who will arrange the visit.

In July we will be visiting the best garden, best hanging basket, tub or pot, and best communal garden. We will announce the winners shortly after.

For the tallest sunflower competition, you need to let us know you are entering, but you have until Friday 16 August to measure your sunflower and send us the height. We will then come out and measure the highest 3 sunflowers to decide the winner.

Good luck!
