Assistant Director - Governance and Legal

Salary Grade 13 Starting salary £66,660

You will provide clear and inspiring leadership of the Council's Governance and Legal Services, while also fulfilling the statutory role of Monitoring Officer.

You will offer valuable, high-quality legal advice and guidance to the Council, its members and officers, plus engage and contribute to the Council's collective leadership, development and management to help us deliver our corporate and strategic objectives. Proactively seeking opportunities to innovate and improve ways of working and managing budgets and resources are also vital requirements of this pivotal role. You will be used to managing competing demands of a set of services while handling specific functions. The postholder will be a member of the council's corporate management team.

Planning and Building Control Support Officer

Salary Grade 4 Starting Salary £20,661per annum

To us the administrative function is a vital part of the Planning and Building Control process. We are looking for an outstanding individual to be part of our Support Team. This is a demanding, yet varied and rewarding role. You will be responsive to customers' needs whilst making best use of the resources available to deliver cost efficient services.

To be successful in this role you must have excellent interpersonal and IT skills.  You will also have a confident methodical and organised approach to your workload, be calm under pressure with the ability to work to strict deadlines.

Legal Assistant / Paralegal

Maternity Cover - Fixed Term Contract up to 12 Months

Salary Grade 5 Starting Salary £23,398 per annum pro rata

The Legal Service Team is looking to recruit a legal assistant/paralegal to cover maternity absence of up to 12 months. The likely commencement date is late January 2018.

The post will involve a range of work, including debt recovery and other civil litigation, assisting with prosecutions and basic conveyancing. There may also be opportunities to represent the Council in court at uncontested or administrative hearings.

Applicants should have experience of working as a paralegal or legal assistant and should ideally have made some progress towards qualification as a Legal Executive. Experience of one or more of the areas of work outlined above is desirable.
