Trainee Housing Surveyor

Career Grade

Grade 5-7 starting salary £23,866 - £33,136 (depending upon relevant experience and qualifications)

We are looking for a trainee housing surveyor to undertake a range of professional building surveying duties relating to the planned and capital improvement for the council's housing stock of just over 3,000 units, land and other assets.

Your role will include undertaking site surveys and producing accurate reports on findings across the various sites you visit. As part of the property services team you will also have the opportunity to assist with regeneration and new build works contracts, which will give insight into specific and skilled aspects of contract management. 

To be successful in this role you will be studying for/have an HNC/Degree in a construction related discipline. You will have excellent presenting, reporting and quotation preparation techniques.

Principal Benefits Officer

Grade 8 starting salary £34,106

Uttlesford District Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Principal Benefits Officer to lead the benefits assessment team based in the benefits department.

We would like to hear from you if you have sound knowledge of benefits processing and proven experience in leading, motivating and developing a high quality, efficient and effective team.

You will be responsible for specialist areas of benefits administration including the first point of contact for complex queries and the representation of Uttlesford District Council at relevant appeal and tribunal hearings.

Part-time Welfare Liaison Officer - 30 hours a week

Fixed term contract until 31 March 2019

Salary £27,358 per annum (pro-rata)

Uttlesford District Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Welfare Liaison Officer to fill a temporary role based in the Benefits Department at the Council Offices in Saffron Walden.

The postholder will be required to provide home visits to the most vulnerable residents of the district and represent the benefits service at surgeries and welfare events. We would like to hear from you if you have proven experience in a benefits and/or homelessness prevention environment and have a positive, customer focused, quality assured attitude.

Part-time Benefit Assessment Officer - 30 hours a week

Grade 5 starting salary £23,866 per annum (pro-rata)

Uttlesford District Council is looking for an officer, to fill a vacancy based in the Benefits Department who can deal with a range of work types and who can adapt quickly to our internal procedures. 

The post covers both administration and customer facing duties and is currently based in Saffron Walden.  You may however occasionally be required to cover weekly benefit surgeries from other locations in the Uttlesford area. Benefit experience would be desirable but not essential. 

You should be an excellent team worker with good communication skills and have a positive, customer focused attitude.

Plumber Level 2

We are looking for an experienced plumber to work on a domestic reactive response repairs contract in the Uttlesford area. You will be provided with a company van and the work will involve carrying out repairs and maintenance to tenanted and void properties in the district. You will be expected to participate on the paid Out of Hours Rota.

This post is based at our Newport Depot. You will need to have experience of domestic water & heating repairs plus kitchen & bathroom installations.

You will need to possess outstanding skills and relevant experience of painting, decorating, plumbing, replacement of kitchens, bathrooms some basic tiling, plastering  etc.  The post holder should hold a full driving licence. You will be expected to participate on the paid Out of Hours Rota.
