Direct Debit

Set up a simple Direct Debit for your Housing Rent, Council Tax or Business Rates. If the weather is bad or you are unwell there is no need to have to get to the bank, post box or Council offices to pay your Housing Rent, Council Tax or Business Rates a Direct Debit arrangement does it all for you.

Direct Debit is a simple, safe and convenient way to manage your household bills or make regular or occasional payments from your bank account. You agree with the council the amount to be collected and the date of payment. From then on the amount will be deducted from your account as agreed. If the council needs to change the amount or collection date, we have to notify you first.

Complete the form and send it to Uttlesford District Council, Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB11 4ER.

You will need to complete a separate form for each service you wish to pay for (Housing Rent, Council Tax,and Business Rates). Once you have sent us the form we will do the rest - it is that easy.

You can also set up a Direct Debit over the phone. Please contact the UConnect customer service centre on 01799 510510 for more information about, and assistance with, setting up a Direct Debit.


You can pay your Council Tax, rent, Business Rates (NNDR), Building Control fees, Planning Application fees, licensing fees, Housing Benefit overpayments or Fixed Penalty Notices online by using our online payments form.

The payments system has been designed to be used with Internet Explorer.

Please note that the facility to pay online is unavailable from between 17:25 and 17:40 every day.

Internet Banking

The Council accepts internet banking payments. We would request that you include your reference number in any payment. The Council's bank details are Account number 20999555 Sort Code 20-74-21.
Please note: If you wish  to make payments to your Rent Account (for council dwellings and garages only) you should use the following bank details: Account number 80940143 Sort code 20-74-21.

Call 01799 510551 or 01799 510552 to use our automated telephone system.

In Person

The UConnect customer service centres at London Road, Saffron Walden and The Library, White Hart Way, Great Dunmow are able to take credit and debit card payments for all services. UConnect is not able to take cash or cheque payments.

Cash payments can be deposited in one of our machines located at:

  • London Road, Saffron Walden, CB11 4ER; or
  • White Hart Way, Great Dunmow, CM6 1FS.

Please note that we are available during office hours 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.00pm Friday.

Parking Fines (PCNs)

Parking fine payments should be made through the Parking Partnership website where you can also challenge your ticket.
