Saffron Walden Town Centre

Hundreds of town and city centres across the UK have organised themselves to work collectively to fight back against the ongoing recession, competition from neighbouring town and city centres, out of town shopping and on line shopping.

Saffron Walden is not immune from these pressures and the town's traders and business people have come together with the District and Town Councils to develop and deliver a plan of action for the town centre and have formed the Saffron Walden Town Team to oversee the delivery of the plan. These initiatives aim to encourage more people to shop in the town and ensure that it remains a vibrant and prosperous place to work, shop, visit and live.

The Town Team is private sector led and managed with Councillors and Council officers acting as members and advisors. There is a chance to "meet the team" on the last Thursday of every month. Everyone is welcome.

The members of the Town Team are:

♦ Neil Gregory - Chair
♦ Alastair Mein - Vice Chair
♦ Wendy Howell - Design Essentials
♦ John Oliver - Emson Close
♦ Richard Roberts - Mullucks
♦ Judith Roddden - Saffron Walden Local
♦ Mark Starte - Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre
♦ Emma Thomas - local resident
♦ Cllr. Julie Redfern - Uttlesford District Council
♦ Cllr. Sharon Morris - Saffron Walden Town Council

Advisors to Town Team:
♦ Terry Frostick - Saffron Walden Town Council
♦ Simon Jackson - Uttlesford District Council
♦ Linda Howells - Uttlesford District Council
