Statement from the Chair of Uttlesford District Council
Councillor Martin Foley, Chair of Uttlesford District Council, has issued a statement on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
"Today, we honour the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, a momentous occasion that marked the end of World War II in Europe. On this day, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who fought for freedom and peace. We pay tribute to the millions who endured unimaginable hardships and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for a better world.
"As we reflect on this historic milestone, we are reminded of the enduring values of unity, hope, and perseverance. Let us continue to strive for a world where peace prevails and where the lessons of the past guide us towards a brighter future. Together, we honour the legacy of VE Day and reaffirm our commitment to building a world of harmony and understanding."
