Housing Trajectory and Five-Year Land Supply

We are required to maintain a five-year advance supply of land for house building, updated annually.

The National Planning Policy Framework requires all local planning authorities to identify a supply of specific deliverable sites to provide five years' new housing supply against their requirements, as calculated under national policies. A housing trajectory is used by councils to calculate their 5-year housing land supply (5 YLS) and demonstrate whether anticipated housing delivery will meet or exceed those housing requirements.

5-Year Land Supply Statement and Housing Trajectory status at 1 April 2023 (9 October 2023)

Uttlesford District Council has reviewed its housing trajectory and 5-year housing land supply and updated it. The council is able to demonstrate a housing supply of 5.14 years for the period 2023 - 2028. This is above the minimum threshold of 5 years as set out in the NPPF.

Gypsy Traveller - 5 Year Land Supply Position

Planning Policy for Traveller Sites (2015) requires local planning authorities to identify a 5-year supply against their locally set pitch and plot targets. This note summarises estimates of need and provision for permanent gypsy and traveller pitches at December 2021.
