UDC raises flag in support of the Armed Forces

Uttlesford District Council has shown its support for the British Armed Forces by hoisting a flag at the offices in Saffron Walden.

Cllr Heather Asker, Chair of the Council, raised the Armed Forces Day flag today (Monday 20 June).

She was joined by fellow councillors, council staff, and representatives of the Armed Forces community, who had been invited to the ceremony to mark the occasion.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the people of the UK to demonstrate their support for service men and women, past, present and future.

The flag will fly at the council offices until Armed Forces Day itself on Saturday 25 June.

As part of the annual celebrations, Carver Barracks will be hosting an Armed Forces Community Day on Saffron Walden Common, on Saturday. The free event will include military exhibitions, community stalls, and food, as well as lots of family entertainment.

Further information about Armed Forces Day is available at www.armedforcesday.org.uk.
