If you live, work or study in Uttlesford you can rent an e-bike or pedal bike for up to 6 months at a subsidised rate.

You can get a bike delivered to your home or work address.

How it works

Just go to the Uttlesford Bike Club website and choose the type of bike you would like.

You can choose:

• how long you want to try the bike for
• your delivery time and date
• how you want to to pay

Bike hire in Saffron Walden

We have a small e-bike hire scheme in Saffron Walden. The scheme is run for us by APP-BIKE.

What you can hire

Choose between hiring an:

• e-bike
• e-cargo bike

Bike hire costs from as little as £2 for 30 minutes. Or you can find a monthly membership option in the app.

How it works

Just download the app, pick up a bike and start your journey.

① Download the APP-BIKE app

Download the free APP-BIKE app from either the App Store if you have an Apple phone or the Play Store for phones that use Android.

You'll find full instructions on how to get the app on the APP-BIKE website.

⚠ Before you can hire a bike you will need to confirm your payment details and verify your id by uploading either a driving licence or passport picture or other form of identity.

You can control your account from the app, view all the hubs and check bike availability.

② Unlock a bike

Scan the QR code on the bike or select the bike in the app to unlock a bike.

Select your rental rate or membership. Choose the rate that suits you best.

③ Enjoy your bike ride

Go anywhere you like with the bike and stop along the way.

Just remember to lock the bike each time you stop using the frame lock and cable.

④ Return the bike

When you've finished with the bike just return it to any of our hubs in the town.

You'll need to make sure that you finish your hire session in the app.
