Staying safe and well this winter

Staying safe and well this winter was the theme of a special event held in two venues in Uttlesford.

The interactive sessions, held at the day centres in Dunmow and Saffron Walden, included talks from pharmacists, specialist health advisors and winter fuel advisors, as well as the fire service and ambulance service. Entertainment was provided by local singer-songwriter Joanna Eden, and there was a free goody bag and lunch dished up for guests.

Organised by NHS West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group in partnership with Uttlesford District Council, the sessions were a success, with those attending saying they found them useful.

One visitor said: "I've been to these events before but this year was the best. The speakers and the organisation were excellent, and I took a lot away from it." Another added: "My daughter said it would be good to come to this and I'm glad we did - it was a very informative and worthwhile day."

Cllr Vic Ranger, the council's Cabinet Member for Communities & Partnerships, said: "With the colder months about to be upon us, these Stay Well events offered a timely reminder of some of the risks of winter and the things we can do to deal with them. I hope those who attended the sessions found them engaging and worthwhile."
