2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 accounts

On 30 July 2024, Jim McMahon the Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution announced a revised end date for audit firms to complete audits for all years up to and including 2022/23. Previously the date was 30 September 2024, the new date is 13 December 2024.

Inspection periods

The council has issued 2 notices for inspection, the first for 2020/21 and the second for 2021/22.

The 2020/21 notice has been reissued due to the length of time passed since the original notice was published.

The council has not been able to meet the deadline for publishing the 2022/23 draft accounts in order to allow for a 30 day inspection period prior to the 13 December 2024 backstop date. This has happened due to the external audits of the council's wholly owned subsidiary, Aspire (CRP) Limited, being delayed, these accounts are required as part of the council's group accounts.

The Aspire (CRP) Limited 2021/22 audit took 18 months to complete, only being signed on 30 April 2024. The council then switched to new auditors who completed the 2022/23 Aspire (CRP) Limited audit in a more timely manner on 2 August 2024. The 2021/22 council accounts have been published on time for the 13 December 2024 backstop date, but a shortage of staff over the summer period has meant the 2022/23 accounts will be delayed by a couple of weeks.

Statement of Accounts

The Statement of Accounts presents the financial results of the council's activities for each year end at 31 March and summarises the overall financial position of the council as at 31 March.

Council accounts: update November 2024

Every council must publish audited accounts each year, and Uttlesford District Council like many other councils has not hit this annual deadline now for multiple years.

We have issued an update on the publication of the council's accounts.

Inspecting financial documents

Printed versions of the Statement of Accounts which include all of the original signatures may be inspected at the Council Offices in Saffron Walden. Ideally anyone wishing to do so should give 24 hours notice.
