Cost of living support

Advice and support to help manage the rising cost of living.

Voluntary litter picking

We can all help to keep our neighbourhoods clean and tidy. Working with others in your community will harness local support for cleaning up litter.

Litter picking

If you, your town or parish council, school or local community group would like to organise and carry out a voluntary litter pick in the district, Uttlesford District Council can loan you all the equipment you will require.

Our litter picking kits include:

  • Litter pickers
  • High visibility vests
  • Gloves
  • Bags

We can also arrange to collect the litter you collect and dispose of it.

Schools and other groups involving children should also seek the advice of Essex County Council regarding safety measures that should be put into place.

To request a litter picking kit, please email wasteaware@uttlesford.gov.uk with the following information:

  • Your name, address and contact details
  • Equipment required
  • Date you would like to collect the kit and the date you will be returning it.

Once we have received your request we will be in touch to confirm if the kit is available on the dates you require and we will let you know where you can collect the kit from.

Please be aware that we do not provide insurance for anyone taking part in a litter pick. You should check to ensure that anyone taking part in an event is covered by your own insurance.
