Bogus council house mould and damp treatment scam

Be on your guard if you are contact by someone offering to treat mould and damp in your home.

We have had reports of our tenants being contacted through WhatsApp by individuals claiming to be offering treatments for mould and damp on behalf of the council.

Uttlesford Norse carries out repairs to all of our properties and will never contact you on WhatsApp or any other social media platform. Please be aware of scams.
 

What to do

If you have any concerns about repairs or anyone contacting you on behalf of the​ council, you should telephone us on 01799 510510 or email uconnect@uttlesford.gov.uk.You can also get in touch with us using alternative methods via our contact us page.

Steps to protect yourself

If you are contacted on WhatsApp by someone claiming to be from Uttlesford Norse we advise you to block the number.

If you are cold called by phone and asked about council repairs, you should end the call as quickly as possible. Do not give out any personal information, particularly bank account or debit or credit card details.
