Cost of living support

Financial advice and emotional support on how you can ease the cost of living squeeze.

Voluntary litter picking

We can all help to keep our neighbourhoods clean and tidy. Working with others in your community will harness local support for cleaning up litter.

If you, your town or parish council, school or local community group would like to organise and carry out a voluntary litter pick in the district we can loan you all the equipment you need.

Our litter picking kits include:

  • litter pickers
  • high visibility vests
  • gloves
  • bags

We can also arrange to collect the litter you collect and dispose of it.

Schools and other groups involving children should also seek the advice of Essex County Council regarding safety measures that should be put into place.

Apply for a kit

To request a litter picking kit, please email wasteaware@uttlesford.gov.uk with the following information:

  • your name, address and contact details
  • equipment required
  • date you would like to collect the litter picking kit
  • date you will be returning the kit

Once we have received your request, we will be in touch to confirm if the kit is available on the date you require. We'll also let you know where you can collect the kit from.

We don't provide insurance for anyone taking part in a litter pick. You should check to ensure that anyone taking part in an event is covered by your own insurance.
