Delayed restart for garden waste collections

Uttlesford District Council will resume with garden waste collections next week following a scheduled break in service over the festive period.

Collections are suspended for four weeks over Christmas and New Year but the council needs to delay the restart by a week as it is putting all additional capacity into helping the catch-up of outstanding household recycling collections that were missed last week. Crews have been dealing with a much higher than anticipated volume of additional recycling being left out for collection over the festive season.

The garden waste collection rounds will restart in the south area next week, from Tuesday 16 January.

The first north area collection will be the following week, from Tuesday 23 January, a week later than planned. Additional side waste will be accepted by the crews on this round.

A council spokesperson said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but please be assured we are doing everything we can to resolve issues with the household waste collections, and appreciate residents' understanding."

If residents need to check whether your property is in the 'north' or 'south' week for garden waste collections, they should contact uconnect@uttlesford.gov.uk .

They can also look out for the latest household waste collection updates on the council's website.
