New parking charges at Catons Lane and London Road

Customers using the Catons Lane and London Road car parks in Saffron Walden are being advised of a new tariff and pricing structure.

From Monday 3 June, charges will apply in Catons Lane as a long-stay car park, and at London Road (Uttlesford District Council Offices car park) on weekends only. Both car parks had previously been free to use. Resident permits will be available for London Road car park from 28 May via the MiPermit app.

Uttlesford District Council recently introduced new tariffs and season ticket changes in its pay-and-display car parks, including the first price increase since 2015. Many of the changes went live in April, whilst a revised tariff structure for Sundays and Bank Holidays in Fairycroft Road (Waitrose) car park in Saffron Walden started earlier this month.

A public consultation on the changes was held in January and February, with almost 500 individual comments received and a petition organised by Saffron Walden BID. In response to the comments, the council made some significant alterations to the initial proposals - these included retaining the season ticket tariff at Crafton Green, Stansted, retaining the 30-minute tariff in Saffron Walden car parks, and reducing the proposed increase on season ticket charges.

More information about the car parking changes and how to pay with MiPermit is available on the North Essex Parking Partnership website .
