Martin takes the Chair

Uttlesford District Council has announced its new Chair for the next 12 months.

Cllr Martin Foley, who represents Thaxted and the Eastons ward, was sworn in at the council's Annual Meeting on 21 May. He takes over the chain of office from Cllr Geof Driscoll, who served in 2023/24.

Cllr Chris Criscione, who represents Flitch Green and Little Dunmow ward, was announced as Vice-Chair for 2024/25.

This is the second time Cllr Foley has been Chair of the council, having held the position in 2020/21. Commenting on the role, Cllr Foley, said: "It is a privilege to be appointed as Chair of this council. The last time I was Chair was during the pandemic and it was a very unusual year - this time around I am hoping to get to many more civic occasions and will try to represent the district the best I can."

Cllr Foley has chosen Uttlesford Foodbank as his good cause during his year in office. The charity provides emergency food and care parcels to individuals and families during times of crisis. For more information, visit https://uttlesford.foodbank.org.uk/.
