Children get important safety messages with Crucial Crew
Hundreds of children from schools across Uttlesford attended a series of workshops aimed at developing important safety skills.
Crucial Crew - which has been running for almost 30 years and is organised by the multi-agency Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership - is for Year 6 children to help them stay safe and to feel ready for the challenges as they move from primary to secondary school.
Approximately 650 pupils from 21 primary schools attended the event, which was held across four days at Bridge End Gardens, Saffron Walden.
It saw the 10 and 11 year olds work through a range of workshops provided by members of the partnership - Uttlesford Community Policing Team, Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, Essex County Council's road safety team, Uttlesford District Council, Next Chapter and Youth Unity. They covered topics such as road safety, drowning prevention advice, vaping awareness, anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and healthy relationships.
The workshops were designed to help the children understand the consequences of making the wrong choices and the importance in taking responsibility for their actions. The event was well received with the schools providing some really positive feedback.
