Appeal a Housing Benefit decision
If you disagree with a decision we have made about your housing benefit entitlement you can either:
- ask us to explain in more detail how the decision has been made.
- ask us to look at our decision again.
- appeal to the Tribunal Service.
If you would like us to explain a decision in more detail, or look at it again, you must do this within a month of us making the decision. Your request must be in writing, clearly explain the decision that you disagree with and why you disagree with it. The more information you give us, the easier it is for us to make sure that the correct decision has been made. Your letter must be signed by the person claiming housing benefit and addressed to the Benefit Manager, Uttlesford District Council, Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden CB11 4ER.
If we decide that we cannot change a decision you can appeal to an independent organisation called the Tribunal Service. The rules for making this appeal are the same as for asking us to reconsider our decision. An appeal must be made within 1 month of us telling you about the outcome of our reconsideration.
If your appeal is made outside of this time limit, the Tribunal Service will decide if they will accept it or not.
